Dear parents and carers
Welcome back to Term 2. It has been great to hear from many of our families indicating that they feel safe and confident for the return to school for Term 2. We have been making the preparations over the last few weeks to ensure that our operations support a safe and supportive start to the term for all students.
The college staff have been busy with preparations to ensure that we have many strategies in place to minimise any risk to students. Some useful information for families includes:
– Additional cleaning has been arranged throughout the day for high contact items.
– Students will be reminded to wash hands regularly throughout the day. Hand washing locations with soap are provided throughout the college however students may wish to carry personal hand sanitiser for their own convenience.
– Students should ensure that they are not sharing personal equipment and high contact items, as well as refraining from physical contact.
– The Café will operate for takeaway only.
– The swimming pool will remain closed.
– Excursions restrictions have not been lifted yet, however restrictions on recreational activities have been modified.
For the first day, students will start directly back in their Wednesday Period 1 classes at 8:35am. There have been no changes to timetables from last term and all classes will run as per normal. During the first period students will be reminded about the need to practice good hygiene throughout the day.
Parents are reminded that if your child is sick, they must not go to school. They do need to stay at home and away from others. Please also remember to maintain physical distancing from other parents and teachers if attending the college, including when dropping off and picking up your children, which wherever possible should be done at the school gate. There is good vehicle access at the rear of the college from Annie Street.
I am pleased to let you know that we have also been advised that bus services will be back to normal as of tomorrow, for the many students who utilise this service.
For the start of Term 2 all students should attend school in full school uniform ready to engage in their educational program. Please remember that, as per college policy, mobile phones are to be off and away all day.
Below is a link to the Parent Guide to Learning in Term 2 which should provide answers to the many questions you might have about college procedures and processes. SCSA has sent an email to all Year 12 students regarding details for 2020 and our Associate Principal Emma Walker will send an email this week regarding Senior School specific information. We will continue to keep all families updated with information regarding planning for this year.
Lastly, I would like to thank Mark Jeffery and the Senior Leadership Team for leading the college through this difficult time in Term 1 in my absence. Mark returns to his role of Associate Principal College Operations and Emma Walker returns to her role as Associate Principal Year 10 – 12, with Janelle Mittonette returning to Associate Principal Year 7 – 9.
